Could you please explain this to me? each of the students who plans to go on the class trip must have vaccinations. why should plans be plan? isnt each singular?It’s possible for a sentence to have multiple verbs with multiple subjects, and that’s what’s going on here. The MAIN sentence is: Each must have vaccinations. The subject is, as you noted, each, and the verb is must have.
There’s another verb in the prepositional phrase. The full prepositional phrase is: [of the students who plan to go on the class trip]. There, completely contained within the prepositional phrase, is the verb plan, with its subject, students.
